Scottish actor, Angus MacFadyen, was born on October 21, 1963. Because his father was a doctor in the World Health Organization, he had the opportunity to travel the world growing up and was educated in France.
Angus MacFadyenMacFadyen trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and received a Master of Arts in French and English at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. While in Edinburgh, he performed in several productions at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
He got his start in television, appearing in several series for the BBC, most notably 1992’s The Lost Language of Cranes. His first film role brought Angus international attention when he portrayed Robert the Bruce opposite Mel Gibson in Braveheart.
MacFadyen has since appeared in many critically acclaimed movies including The Rat Pack, playing Peter Lawford, The Cradle Will Rock, playing Orson Welles and Titus, opposite Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange. He is currently working on Spartacus, an upcoming TV mini-series.
